BRENDAN RODGERS has reportedly attended a meeting with Peter Lawwell and Celtic majority shareholder Dermot Desmond in a bid to thrash out the clubs next move after a disappointing summer window.

The meeting came as reports surfaced that the Irishman was offered a ridiculous amount of money to swap Scotland for China a couple of months ago.

Brendan rebuffed the offer but it’s thought the Celtic manager has not been fully happy with the commitment the club has shown him in return.

The meeting with Desmond was to smooth out any rough edges and give Brendan Rodgers assurances that he will be backed in the coming months and years as he looks to secure ten in a row for the bhoys.

These reports have come from a very well connected journalist at Scottish Mail Sport, Stephen McGowan who has been spot on in recent months with regards to the goings on at Celtic Park.

Desmond was the man to bring Brendan in, so it’s only right he sat down with his manager to addressed any concerns.

  1. Lets hope for a positive outcome from these ‘talks’ and things settling down to what we know the bhoys can achieve. We all know the team needs freshening up and that the next transfer window is crucial in moving us forward. As long as we stabilise between now and Christmas then we will be absolutely fine.

  2. This meeting with Brendan,Lawwell and Desmond has been a long time coming to be honest.
When Desmond went and got Brendan in after the defeat in the semi final to sevco,it was suggested that Brendan was going to be backed financially when it came to getting signings in,that clearly didn’t happen in
the last transfer window, with the failure to sign McGinn, with what would have been a small transfer fee.
McGinn ,with that wonder strike last Saturday,is already proving what many in Scotland already knew, that he is cracking player and that Lawwell failed big time to get him in to a Celtic top,a top he had been dreaming of pulling on professionally since he could first kick a ball. By not backing Brendan in the last window, they need to really back him big time in the next one to rectify thier failures in the last one, especially by not getting in at least one competent CB,and maybe ensuring C.L. qualification.
If after this lastest meeting Brendan is not backed in the January window, and again in the window next pre season we might well see Brendan walk, even if 10IAR is still on.
Lets hope Desmond sees sense and gives Brendan that backing,to 1.keep Brendan at the club and 2.ensure that the squad is improved,in order to seal 10IAR and qualifies for the Champions League.
    H.H.

  3. mcginn went to villa for the money mate .

if mcginn had wanted to play for celtic he would have made it happen .

it gets tiresome hearing some peoples opinion on the matter . forget mcginn .

we need to concentrate on a goalkeeper , a right back , 2 centre halfs , a midfielder and a striker and boyata and ntcham will be off .

thats the real reason for the unrest at the club .
