Celtic completed the signing of Ben Siegrist on Tuesday night, with the club confirming the acquisition of the player after eight O’clock.

The goalkeeper joins Celtic from Dundee United after his contract expired at the Arabs.

He had a starting role nailed down at United but was keen to embark on a new challenge. At Celtic, he’ll presumably start as a second-choice keeper but will look to take the chance to impress and force his way into the team.

However, the new signing told CeltsAreHere that he’s yet to learn the role he’ll be playing in the Celtic squad next year. Speaking at the Fan Media press conference on Wednesday, Siegrist said;

“No, I’ve not had any conversations. [about the role he’ll play in the squad]

“The first day is Monday officially, I’ll need to get back to you then. But as i said, I’m super excited.”

Two Top Goalies to Battle it Out.

Joe Hart and Ben Siegrist are top keepers; there’s no doubting this. On social media, users have been putting a case forward in favour of both men starting between the sticks.

Preseason will be massive for the pair; impressing Ange Postecoglou could be critical for Siegrist.

No matter who earns the top spot, fans will feel comfortable. It’s not often that a club has two top goalies who are more than capable of starting for the team.

It will be interesting, but only one man will emerge the winner.
