The return of Fraser Forster was unexpected but welcome by a lot of the support. Since coming in he’s slowly convinced the doubters Neil Lennon was right to bring him back to the club.

One man who doesn’t benefit from Forster’s return is Scott Bain. The player came from nowhere at the end of 2018 to become Celtic’s number one in 2019 for the rest of the 18/19 campaign. Bain started off this season as number on, but a couple of erratic performances and then a hand injury saw him drop off the Celtic radar. The player was signed by Brendan Rodgers on a free after initially coming in on loan.

We have seen the player training and he has featured on Celtic’s social media channels but are we likely to see Bain again this season playing for Celtic?

Forster has the gloves and Gordon is Celtic’s league cup goalkeeper – will Neil Lennon throw an olive branch to Scott in the new year and perhaps give him the Scottish Cup ties?

Bain was given the 2018 League Cup run by Brendan Rodgers before he eventually took the gloves from Gordon.

The goalkeeper was riding high and it will feel like he just got to the top of his game before being knocked off it very quickly. He has age on his side, if he wants to get back to being Celtic’s number one patience may be the key here.
