The New Years Glasgow Derby fixture has finally been confirmed by the SPFL and Sky Sports.

The game will take place on January 2nd with a 12pm kick-off.

Celtic have not enjoyed the Glasgow Derby fixture for some time now. The bhoys have not scored a victory over the Ibrox club since December 2019 in the League Cup final.

Kevin Clancy will be the referee on Sunday.

We have not been able to compete in these games, especially during the COVID era when no fans were allowed into stadiums. The last game at Ibrox was closely contested and the hoops were edged out on the day.

It’s about time Celtic stand up and be counted in this fixture once again. The bhoys are building but they could be out of the title race by January if they don’t put a run together between now and the end of the year.

The club are six points behind in the title race and have to make up ground and quickly.

  1. I would’ve thought it would be the SPFL who would determine the time and date of the fixture and not some television company. Cart leading the horse with this one.
