Having been at the game yesterday, I got to partake in every last bit of the title celebrations at Celtic Park.
With the game being sold out ahead of time it was up to Sky Sports to help convey the spirit of the day and give Celtic fans not lucky enough to be there a window into how Celtic were celebrating their invincibility.
However, after the game and after the trophy had been lifted it seemed like they couldn’t wait to get the show off the air. Instead of doing in-depth analysis of the season and ensuring Celtic fans got their moneys worth out of their Sky Sports subscription it was a case of – trophy lifted let’s get out of here. While down south they made sure to stick with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge to hear John Terry’s longwinded goodbye.
Celtic were on hand to live stream the celebration on youtube but if you aren’t on social media then you would’ve missed out on a lot of the fun.
Sky Sports have been getting away with substandard coverage of our game for years with no real competition. The emergence of BT Sports has highlighted how poor Sky have been with the Scottish game. Any game we’ve seen on BT sports this season has had suitable build up, top coverage and good debate after the final whistle. Instead of treating Scottish football like an afterthought they try to champion our game where they can.
BT have had Sky on their heels for quite a while now, with outstanding coverage of the Champions League and interactive options, they really have been a breath of fresh air. It’s like they’ve looked at how Sky do things and said ‘let’s do the opposite!’.
While the SPFL is locked in with the current share deal with Sky it has been reported that BT are willing to bid for EXCLUSIVE rights for the SPFL in time for the 20/21 season and provide the biggest TV deal in the league’s history. This would around £30million plus per season region, which is still a pittance to what the overinflated EPL see on a yearly basis but it would certainly be a step in the right direction.
To rid ourselves of the used car salesman presenting skills of David Tanner and the bleak Neil McCann punditry would certainly be welcomed by the majority of Scottish football.
The only negative about BT Sports at the moment is that long time commentator Derek Rae is leaving and they will now have to look for a new commentary team. A hard task to replace a person who was liked by most Scottish football fans.
It’s time to rid ourselves of Sky Sports once and for all.
Agree with your sentiments one hundred per cent , get the Scottish game on early and over and done with as quickly as possible so they can move to the real event of the day , the English premiership, always been this way , complete and utter contempt for our game, get them to hell.

Agree with the comments above 100% , been looking 2 offload sky sports for a while but everyone else in scotland would need 2 do the same for sky 2 take any notice . One guy doing it will not make any differance .Absolutely sick of the coverage of scottish football , or the lack of it

Off topic – I would just like to thank Sevco for getting 67 points this season, thus joining us in the celebration of the Lisbon Lions’ achievements. Sevco managed to beat their early season target of 55. Not bad for a wee club.
Appaulling the way Celtic were treated yesterday their achievements this season have out shone anything in epl, the display before the game couldn’t get matched anywhwere in England not one team down there have the fans like us ,, as for sky well just say sevco is their first choice let them keep the scumbags even on the app they laud all over them ????

I cancelled sky after the caley semi two years ago. I told them I was canxellinit because of the pittance of a tv deal and the poor coverage. It was actually a Scottish guy I spoke to and he tried to disagree with me.

Cancelled sky a few years back Celtic playing in champions league qualifier final round and was not shown sky had the rights at the time but had a friendly between Tottenham and some other team

Sky coverage of the Celtic game yesterday was totally shocking they also seem to dip the sound as well on the coverage bt r a million miles ahead of them sky even copy now going down to the touch line ! Also another thing that annoys me with sky is when teams come out the tunnel they go for a break for one fucking advert then it comes back on when teams r about to kick off total shambles

I’ve been saying this for a few years now, the whole of scotland needs to boycott sky for them to invest money in our league as long as they are already getting the sales out of scotland they’ll continue to put nothing in.

I binned Sky in the build to the first game against Sevco, when it was obvious their agenda was to push the OF tag as hard as possible, thus promoting Sevco and the same club myth.
I just don’t get to see the Celtic games on Sky anymore, which is hard when you know the game is on. I just listen on the radio and follow on Twitter. Sure why would you pay to listen to the dross Sky commentary.
Simple decision, call Sky and tell them you’re cancelling because of their pathetic Scottish football coverage. If enough people do it, they will eventually take notice by either upping their game a la Celtic, or walk away a la Sevco.
If you’re prepared to put up with their sub standard coverage to watch a game, don’t expect anything to change.

To cut off the celebrations 15 mins or so after receiving the spl trophy to rush to Watford v citeh game was embarrassing and shows the contempt they have for the Scottish game. I mind when Arsenal did the exact same the programme lasted for ages after it….but in Scotland we are treated like an annoying plook on sky’s arse cheek! As for Tanner and EBT McCann they can GTF and the sooner BT get the contract the better as it’s refreshing and they do a round up live before games on the latest gossip and news on our game. Even before and during our game we were bludgeoned by what’s on skysports just now…. Chelsea getting the trophy ….who gives a fuckin toss ….it was our day….our game….if you wanted to watch tennis..golf…etc you’d already be watching that particular channel ffs! I actually dread when I find out this mob are covering our game….then god BT and BBC Scotland are showing the cup final this weekend. For too long sky have duped the ordinary Scottish football fan and for what they actually put back into our game is at best piss poor and merely a token payment while we…the subscribers fund “the greatest league in the world” ….aye fuckin right! The tifo on Sunday was magnificent and barely mentioned yet if any EPL team had done this it would be on sky news every fuckin 30 mins or so! I hope BT get the gig and keep getting more rights to sports that sky have and that they realise that our game is a lot better than some pundits imagine.

Agree with most of the comments, sky provide a poor coverage to Scottish football and I was totally shocked at how quickly the coverage of the game ended. I will be cancelling my subscription to sky sports asap and will look at BT sport for football

I have NEVER paid Sky any money for football coverage. They ain’t interested in Scottish football and all the money goes south of Hadrian’s wall to the so called best league in the world. They are helping to kill the game up here and If all those on here have finally got the message and stick to their pledge then all the better. Get these English football loving tossers off the air.
