Celtic were name-checked in a social media tweet that’s gone viral in the wake of the new Super League plans.

Some of the richest clubs in the world, not satisfied with the enormous amount of money they’re making at the moment are planning a break away league.

Among those clubs are the likes of Arsenal, Spurs and Atletico Madrid.

Teams with a lot of money but less prestige and history than Celtic and other European clubs.

This was pointed out by a Sky Sports reporter who noted the lunacy of these types of club being part of a super league when they’ve done very little in the game.

People who believe football just sold its soul in the past 48 hours are kidding themselves on.

The Champions League format favours and benefits the richer sides and leagues. UEFA appeasing those clubs and associations until they no longer could, giving birth to this ‘elite league’.

Sky Sports wheeling out their pundits to condemn the cash grab while facilitating and bragging about the EPL and its splendour for years is too much irony for me to process.

The litigation has begun and now we watch and wait. If this league does go ahead, there’s going to be major upheaval in football across Europe.
