DAVIE PROVAN has suggested Neil Lennon saying he has mellowed as a manager is wide of the mark after he heard through the grapevine about the Almondvale dressing room noise after Celtic’s defeat to Livingston two weeks ago.

Provan doesn’t seem to be having a go because Neil hasn’t mellowed because the former Celtic player believes the Irishman is the most under pressure Celtic manager in decades as he tries to deliver nine and ten in a row.

Celtic face stiffer competition this year and after a blistering start faltered in back to back away games before the international break.

The Sky Sports man laughed off the suggestion both Lennon and Gerrard are under the same sort of pressure when it’s clear Neil Lennon is the man who has it all to lose.

Speaking in his Sunsport coloumn, Provan said:

Apparently Neil kicked off after Celtic’s defeat at Livingston before the international break.

Post-match in the corridors of the Tony Macaroni, he could be heard ripping his players up.

I reckon his mercury will only rise as this season unfolds.

Popular myth has it Lennon has mellowed. That the volcanic Lenny has morphed into the Dalai Lama.

The guy himself says he’s less combustible these days thanks to experience. Either way, he currently finds himself under more pressure than any Celtic boss in decades.

“I HAD to laugh at suggestions Neil Lennon and Steven Gerrard are under the same pressure to win the league.”

Celtic got back to winning ways against Ross County with a thumping 6-0 win with the Celtic manager delighted with his side’s response.
