Former Celtic striker and Sky Sports pundit Andy Walker believes that the Celtic board and Dermot Desmond will stick by manager Neil Lennon.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Walker stated that the Northern Irishman will not be sacked and will instead be given the chance to turn things to try and claw back the 11 point deficit and win our 10th title in a row.

“The Celtic board and Dermot Desmond are going to stick by Neil Lennon,” Walker said. “If they were going to make a change they would’ve made it during the international weekend there.

“They’re in a bit of a mess just now and I think the best-case scenario is Celtic win all their games between now and the game at Ibrox.

“That’s the big one. They have to show they can match Rangers on a big occasion.”

In the last few days, after the draw away to Hibernian on Saturday afternoon, a large majority of the Celtic support have called for Lennon to be sacked.

This isn’t out of any spite for him, as he is and always will be a club legend. However, in this season of all seasons, we cannot afford to be sentimental with something like this.

At this current stage, we find ourselves 11 points of Rangers at the top of the league. We have time to catch that up but time is running out if we want to do that. So something needs to change.

It doesn’t appear as if the Celtic board will be taking any action, after being completely silent in the aftermath of the latest poor result. At some point, some action needs to be taken and they will be held accountable if that doesn’t happen soon.

  1. If Celtic are struggling to even finish third (in the spfl.) Len will get the chop. That’s the nice way of putting it. But won’t happen, as after Xmas Celtic will have to spend big, not the pennies they have up until now. But not to win TIAR. But have a better showing in Europe come late July 21. Or 7:21 am. Xmas day.
