Ex-Celt and Sky Sports pundit, Kris Commons has slated Ibrox Boss Steven Gerrard for his Celtic Park celebrations in December and how silly he looks a month on from the Parkhead game.
Gerrard was grabbing cameras and generally jumping around like a man possessed after his team got the result against Celtic. They were acting like they had already won the league.
Fast forward to the end of January and they have been drab and sluggish since the winter break – two below-par performances they managed to get wins from but their luck ran out at Tynecastle as bottom of the table Hearts took all three points.
It’s now advantage Celtic in the title race with the bhoys quietly going about their business. Five points clear with Gerrard’s men having a game in hand.
Commons looks back at the Parkhead celebrations and thinks the Scouser should’ve kept a lid on it.
“That’s an alarming trend and Gerrard’s celebrations at the end of the Old Firm game prior to new year now look wildly premature.” Commons told The daily mail as cited by SunSport.
“Towards the end of my career, I always tried to avoid giving it big licks.
“You don’t want to end up with egg on your face, so you learn to keep a lid on it until you actually have a trophy in your hands.
“From his slip against Chelsea at Anfield a few years ago, Gerrard knows just how fine the margins can be in a title race.”
Celtic go to St Johnstone on Wednesday night knowing they can keep the pressure on the Ibrox side who will have to bounce back quickly.
Anyone who defends Morelos like he does will always be a loser, when it comes to class I’m afraid he is lacking and it shows in how he conducts himself in games that are on the boil he seems to think everyone is on his back when decisions don’t pan out his way a sad reflection of a spoilt childhood.
