Celtic won their ninth title in a row on Monday when they were crowned champions of Scotland for the 19/20 season.
The bhoys were runaway winners in the end, leaving no doubt who the champions would be after the shutdown.
However, Sky Sports pundit and former Celt, Charlie Nicholas appears to be trying to take credit for some of Celtic’s success this term.
Nicholas cites his criticism of Odsonne Edouard back from earlier this season as something which sparked the striker into life.
Nicholas said the player was too nonchalant about playing and scoring for Celtic, attacking the way he celebrates goals for Celtic.
Speaking after Celtic were made champions, Nicholas believes the player stepped up his intensity after he didn’t take kindly to the comments made.
“He has this slightly annoying habit of looking too casual and uninterested a lot of the time.” Nicholas told SunSport.
“It’s as if he can’t be too fussed in the so-called lesser games. The thing that irritates me more than anything is his lack of celebration when he scores.
“It should be the greatest feeling in the world but Odsonne doesn’t show that.”
“The rebirth of Odsonne Edouard and Fraser Forster’s return were key to Celtic securing nine-in-a-row.
“I’ve never questioned Edouard’s ability but I wasn’t sure if he had the appetite and he didn’t take kindly to me pulling him up last September about his lack of celebration after scoring.
“After that he started smiling more and became a real team player and a standout performer.”
Forget Edouard was a big reason we won last season’s treble and the form he has continually shown for the Hoops. Charlie seems to be living on another planet from the rest of us.
Calling someone out because they don’t go mental scoring a goal is petty to say the very least. Eddy’s celebration at Ibrox last year is pretty iconic as he told the home support to calm down after netting for the hoops.
I don’t think Odsonne gives Charlie Nicholas a second thought.
It’s all about Charlie. Never misses a chance to bum himself up to the high heavens. In truth, he had a streak when he found good form, but like players who pull on a strip, he forgets the pleasure he brought to fans with his goals. As time goes on he forgets that and then turns on the club that made him famous. He’s just a shyster!
