Former English Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher has given his thoughts about the two Hearts sendings off at Celtic Park.

It has became tradition that following weekend fixtures, many football tune in to get Gallagher’s take on decisions in matches.

Hearts finished the game at Celtic Park with nine men after Kevin Clancy dismissed Alex Cochrane and Toby Sibbick.

Both players had already been booked in the match and were sent packing at the end of the game which Jambos manager Robbie Neilson took issue with.

He tried to associate fouls with yellow cards and believed his team were hard done by which almost feeds into some sort of conspiracy about teams visiting Glasgow clubs.

Upon looking at the first incident which took place when Cochrane was sent off Gallagher gave us his point of view.

“Yeah, already on a yellow card you just can’t do this can you? And why do it in that area of the field? The same with the second player as well, he’d also had a yellow card earlier on,” said Dermot Gallagher speaking to Sky Sports.

Sibbick was dismissed only a matter of minutes after Cochrane’s dismissal with poor challenges being made across the game from the Jambos.

“I don’t know how you can defend them because they’re on yellow cards and there’s no need to do this.

“I don’t want to see teams being reduced to nine men but I don’t think the referees got any choice.”

Hearts frustrated Celtic throughout the match and didn’t give the game much of a chance to breath. Before the Hoops made the breakthrough, it had been rather sticky with a potential foul on Daizen Maeda happening in the build up to Kyogo’s goal.

Even had VAR been in place yesterday, Clancy got both calls spot on and there can’t be much complaint.
