Sky Sports chief correspondent Bryan Swanson has claimed UEFA are still pushing for an August deadline to finish the league season across the board — including the Champions League as it appears the dates and strategy have been leaked.

This flies in the face of Nicola Sturgeon’s comments on live sport returning in any capacity in Scotland in the near future.

Sky Sports claim he governing body will put another deadline in place for the end of August in a bid to give leagues every chance of being concluded on the field.

This is obviously great news for Celtic, but it looks increasingly as if football is detached for reality — UEFA in particular. To try and put a deadline on games across 55 associations — all with different spreads of the outbreak is reckless at best.

There’s still the threat of punishing leagues for ending their season before UEFA’s approval.

UEFA sit today then will open up the floor to their members during a meeting on Thursday.

Swanson claims the Champions League and Europa League ties will be scheduled for August 29 and August 26.
