CHRIS SUTTON believes there is one signing Celtic can make this summer which will virtually guarantee ten in a row.

The BT pundit has been very vocal this season about one man at Celtic Park and the difference he has made, that’s why it’s no surprise he’s now calling for the permanent signing of Fraser Forster.

The goalkeeper is responsible for at least one trophy being in the cabinet last term with his sensational performance in the League Cup. Over and above that, the player has shown his credentials in all competitions and was a big reason we topped our Europa group.

Celtic have Scott Bain under a long term deal and some youth goalkeepers in the background but with Craig Gordon about to leave the club on a free, Celtic should be looking to sign Fraser on a permanent deal.

“John Kennedy has revealed he and Neil Lennon are looking to add two or three new faces in the summer.” Sutton wrote in his RecordSport column.

“While it would be good for the team to sign quality players, there is one person who wouldn’t be a new face, but a familiar one that’s a matter of priority. And it belongs to Fraser Forster.

“For all the potential wheeling and dealing which could take place over the next couple of months if the transfer window gets up and running, the big keeper is an absolute must.

“If it takes all of the available transfer budget to get him, then so be it.

“We don’t know how the window is going to work and what the effects of Covid-19 are going to have on the finances at Parkhead or anywhere else in Scotland.

“But if Celtic are to get one deal done, it has to be the permanent capture of Forster.”

Football is a funny old game. Craig Gordon replaced Fraser Forster as Celtic’s number one back in 2014 when the club sold the Englishman to Southampton. If Celtic pull off the deal, Fraser would replace Craig full time.

  1. If we only have 10 million to spend then we can kiss 10 on ass and give it away let splash some big cash this window on three top seasoned pros that know what it takes to win….

  2. Not going to be the easiest thing to do “splash the cash” as this pandemic will have used up money we had. In all honesty I would imagine Fraser is a must for all Celtic fans would want. As to other positions I really don’t think we need that many as I feel we have a good strong squad. Also if we brought people in who would get dropped? If we are going to bring people in I’d imagine it would be youngsters that we can develop. We have a lot of good young talent that I imagine would have been given a chance once we had won the league but that was taken away from them.
