So much has been made of the Celtic defence the last few weeks it has caused a few knee-jerk reactions among some fans.

One loud and clear call is to recruit at the back and that looks like a foregone conclusion at this stage with Marvin Compper arriving earlier for his Celtic medical.

Mikael Lustig has looked tired the last few weeks and for some reason, Gamboa does not seem to be on Brendan Rodgers when he is fit.

Anthony Ralston was shaping up to look like he was going to feature heavily this season until he got injured. Ralston has not featured since October for the Hoops after a knee injury halted his season. The good news is the 19-year-old started tonight for the Celtic academy against Dundee.

Ralston showed no signs of any injuries as he worked the wing getting balls into the box. He was substituted just after the hour mark. If he can stay injury free and continue to get some game time and more training under his belt he should be back in contention for Celtic in January when the squad will enjoy a 3-week break. Ralston could be like a new signing by that stage as the right-back position has been short of cover for so long.
