Brendan Rodgers will be looking to kick start 2019 with a run of good wins and hopefully one or two more transfer accomplishments. Celtic already booked their place in the next round of the Scottish Cup with a win against Airdrie on Saturday.

They will play Saint Johnstone in the next round at Celtic Park. Celtic will play the remainder of their January fixtures at home. So far this season in the league they have played nine and won nine at Paradise.

Tonight’s opponents are up against it, on paper anyway.  Celtic are unbeaten in each of their last 16 league matches against St. Mirren. The last time Celtic were beaten by Saint Mirren it cost Tony Mowbray his job.

St. Mirren’s last visit to Celtic Park against Celtic was in March 2017 in the Scottish Cup quarter-final, losing 1-4 despite leading 1-0 at half-time. Celtic’s last defeat at home on a Wednesday was in November 2016 against Barcelona.

All this reads well on paper but the Bhoys will need to go out and put on a performance tonight. All the team news and match reaction coming soon.
