WE broke the news last night that Ryan Christie had come off social media after the player was sent off during Celtic’s defeat to Livingston on Sunday.

The little midfielder who has had a blistering start to the season for Celtic was rightfully sent off for a silly lunge he should never have made. The Celtic star will no himself he let the fans and his team-mates down on the day but to see him come off social media most likely means he was faced with abuse after the game.

Twitter houses a lot of the dregs of society – people who are out to abuse and provoke reaction. It appears the Celtic player had enough and got out of dodge and quite right if he was being verbally abused.

These Celtic fans are disgusted the player has had to take this action.

@Buzzbomb11 said: “Can’t believe the stick Ryan Christie is getting, some people have short memories.”

@jdek76: “Any so-called fans abusing Ryan Christie to his Twitter account, go and have a serious f***ing word with yourself!”

@InstaCelts: “This is absolutely disgraceful the fact that Ryan Christie had to deactivate his Twitter account due to getting abuse about getting sent off today.

“Everyone makes mistakes and the players are people so they don’t deserve it that bad that they have to take down their accounts ?.”

“Really hoping that those in our fanbase can reflect after yesterday and apologise to Ryan Christie for the online abuse he suffered

“I’ve made that tackle and I assume anyone who has ever played the game has done so

“He’s been a Godsend to us”

Celtic dropped down to second in the league – they have drawn one game and lost one game. The league is still very much in our sights and people need to calm down when things don’t go our way. These past two SPFL games haven’t been good enough but it does nobody any favours when nonsense like this happens.

  1. Yes it’s sad he’s had to do that , a lot of our fans are fickle, change like the weather, he made a costly mistake yesterday, but the lad has been outstanding for us, he will bounce back .

  2. I don’t believe this is Celtic fans….it’s psychological warfare across all social media platforms.
Imposters from another club, doing everything and anything to unsettle our players.
This is war to them….and they will stop at nothing.

  3. Bigmick got to agree with you. These people like the SFA will stop at nothing to disrupt Celtics progress. Hopefully we are strong enough to overcome this crap. HailHail
