Speculation regarding Kristoffer Ajer’s wishes to leave Celtic this summer have been confirmed. Speaking to Norwegian journalist Arilas Ould-Saada, Ajer had this to say:
“With one year left of my contract, that would be the best solution for me and my club…Something is going to happen this summer.”
This comes as no surprise, Ajer is expected to leave this summer with many clubs around Europe eager to receive the 6-foot 5-inch’s signature.
Two premier league clubs Newcastle and newly promoted Norwich have become increasingly interested in the defender, with SunSport reporting that Celtic will be receiving a bid in the region of £10 million shortly from the canaries. The two English clubs are not alone, with Bayern Leverkusen also keen to sign the Norwegian this summer.
With now less than 12 months remaining on his deal, Ajer confirmed “something will happen this summer”. Does the Norwegian know where his future lies?
The Norwegian wants to feature in one of the top 5 leagues, but will he want to take the risk and move to Norwich and potentially get relegated, or go to Newcastle and just manage survival? Celtic fans know just how good Kris Ajer is, and know he should not be anywhere near the bottom half of the premier league.
If reports are to be believed and Ajer’s representatives have made contact with German giants Bayern Leverkusen [Glasgow Live] I believe we can see a reunion with Dutchman, Jeremie Frimpong.
Furthermore, Ajer has Europa League and Champions League experience, something he will need to put to good use if he does indeed make the switch to Germany.
