For as long as he lives, Celtic striker Adam Idah will never forget the Hoops’ 5-1 win over Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Champions League earlier this season.
The Bhoys have rediscovered their groove on the European scene this campaign, and things are finally looking good for them on the continent.
Although Club Brugge will provide another stern test on Wednesday evening, Brendan Rodgers’ men are confident about their chances of reaching the top 24 or perhaps even the top eight.
Their positive start, which has seen them earn seven points from their opening four matches, has put them in good stead at the halfway mark.
Celtic started the league phase in the best possible fashion, putting Slovakian champions Slovan Bratislava to the sword in a 5-1 hammering. Fans were left scratching their eyes at the grandeur of the victory.
Idah, who came off the bench to score his first Champions League goal that night, will remember it for as long as he lives: “We do relish the home games,” he said (RecordSport).
“It’s unbelievable. The first game against Bratislava was something I’ll never forget.
“Every time you have a Champions League game, it’s really exciting – and you want to win these games. We have been really good so far, so we need to keep pushing and hopefully doing well.”
The Belgian champions now lie in wait for the Hoops on Wednesday evening as they look to get themselves onto 10 points.
It will be no easy task, though, against a side that won 7-0 on Saturday and who regularly qualify for European football’s premier club competition.
Brugge beat Aston Villa last time out in Europe, too, and they were unlucky not to get something in Milan a few weeks prior amid a sending-off.
They will come to Glasgow full of confidence ahead of Wednesday’s blockbuster showdown.
