There’s nothing to play for this evening but Neil Lennon has the opportunity to give some much needed game time to players he might need to rely on in the coming weeks.

We know Olivier Ntcham, Nir Bitton and Hatem Elhamed are all major doubt and Ryan Christie is suspended for the tie.

So here’s our predicted starting XI for the game against Lille.

  • Barkas
  • Taylor
  • Jullien
  • Ajer
  • Frimpong
  • McGregor
  • Brown
  • Turnbull
  • Soro
  • Moi
  • Griffiths

Griffiths starting up front would allow the striker to get more minutes in his legs and finally get up to speed so he could be more useful in the Kilmarnock game on Sunday. Neil Lennon spoke about Klimala getting game time but surely Leigh is a must.

Bringing Taylor back into the defence and giving Laxalt the night off makes sense. The other three defenders I’d keep in there to help build some sort of rapport back that has been lost this season. They don’t have to play the full game together but Jullien and Ajer regaining their understanding would be beneficial.

Soro and Turnbull both starting would be a big call, we’re not sure if the Celtic manager will see it this way but if you have Brown in there helping them both vocally and getting them through the game, it could be a big moment for both.

McGregor might have to assume the attacking mid-right position with Forrest still out and Christie suspended.

Moi starting the game with potentially half an hour for Mikey Johnston who would be making his return after five months out would also be a boost.

Ultimately we’re playing for nothing but pride but putting in a good performance has never been more important.
