I and many contributors to this site regularly pop in on the ACSOM podcasts daily broadcast where they talk about the hot topics of the day and the bigger picture at Celtic Park.

The host of the show Paul John Dykes, who you will likely know from the podcast itself, his Sky Sports appearances or his interview abilities on the Celtic circuit pre-pandemic, is always a good listen.

Rarely does Paul indulge in speaking for the sake of it or saying something without deliberately thinking about the consequences. That’s why it was very interesting when the podcaster claimed a source close to the club told him there would be an ‘incredible investment’ in the Celtic coaching staff as well as the playing staff for next season.

“I was speaking to someone who is close to the club and who reckons there’s going to be an incredible investment in the Celtic coaching staff and playing staff moving into next season.” Paul John stated on Thursday’s ACSOM (45 minutes into the broadcast)

“Now, when I was told that I thought, ‘right ok’, I know you’ve got to get the league title back, but surely that level of investment is with bigger ambitions.

“That theory wasn’t quashed when I suggested that”

There will be many sceptics out there who say they’ll believe it when they see it and I think they’ve every right to say or think that because of the board’s lack of ambition in the past.

However, it’s still encouraging and lends a little bit of hope as we find ourselves in football purgatory.

Is the significant investment in the side solely for the SPFL or are Celtic trying to hatch a plan to leave the league in the next few years?

The post-pandemic landscape of football will change and will there be a seat anywhere else for the club? I’m not talking EPL but a shakeup in European football could see Celtic do something a bit different.

You can tune into ACSOM daily at 12:30.

  1. Have you noticed Sutton is falling into line with the SMSM since Lennon left like McFadden a token TIM they are welcome as long as you abide by the rules
