South Korea boss Jürgen Klinsmann has called up Celtic duo Yang and Oh for the Asian Cup next month.

The inclusion of the South Korean Celtic pair will have a significant impact on Celtic’s squad availability during January and possibly February.

The Asian Cup, scheduled from January 12th to February 10th, overlaps with a busy period for Celtic, who are expected to play four, potentially five, matches during this time, including Scottish Cup fixtures. The fifth match could be the next round of the Scottish Cup if the Hoops overcome Buckie Thistle first.
There is also anticipation surrounding the Japanese squad announcement for the Asian Cup. Celtic players Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda are potential candidates for selection, which could further affect Celtic’s team composition during the tournament period. It would also see Brendan Rodgers left with no recognised first tea, striker.
The situation with Reo Hatate, who is currently injured, makes his participation in the tournament unlikely.
The Celtic manager will be looking to dip into the January transfer window early on to ensure he has enough cover for the run of games.
