Southampton manager, Ralph Hassenhuttl has said he is closely monitoring on-loan Celtic winger, Mohamed Elyounoussi, speaking after an impressive European performance last night, scoring both goals for the hoops in the 2-2 draw with Lille.

As reported by Hampshire Live, when the Austrian manager was asked about the Norweigan winger’s performances, he spoke highly of Elyounoussi and how happy he was to see him scoring goals, at a level like the Europa League and even mentioned his chances of being in his plans next season.

“I am very deeply invested in what my loan players do and I am very happy for [Elyounoussi] that he scored and I am happy to see it.

“And, definitely, the player has a chance to maybe come back in and to be a part of the team, maybe next year.”

Many fans were probably surprised that Elyounoussi was one of the first summer signings, coming back for a second stint in Glasgow.

It was expected that out of both stars on-loan from Southampton last season, Fraser Forster would have been the one to return, but it obviously hasn’t worked out that way.

Last night, the 26-year old, showed exactly what he was capable of against a top opposition who are currently 2nd in Ligue 1. By the sounds of it, he will be part of the Saints plans next season, so we need to try and get the best out of him whilst he is at the club.
