It was great for Celtic to return to the grand stage of European football to take on Real Madrid.

Celtic last competed in the tournament in 2017.

The atmosphere around Celtic Park was absolutely electric on Tuesday evening with the team on the park able to match it.

Celtic had some big moments in the game but weren’t able to take their chances and were ultimately punished.

Ange Postecoglou’s team took the game to Real Madrid and were very unlucky not to get a result against Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

Before the match kicked-off Liam McGrandles got the crowd going before a fantastic rendition of you’ll never walk alone.

When the Champions League anthem struck up the roar was absolutely phenomenal.

Throughout the game the fans stuck with the team. One of the standout moments of the night was after the final whistle when the team was given a standing ovation from the Celtic support being applauded off the park.

Fans have belief in what Postecoglou is doing and wanted to show their backing.

Although Madrid showed their class, Spanish press praised the Celtic team with El Pais stating that the team was “terrifying” the Spaniards.

Celtic will return to league action this Saturday with a tie against Livingston.

  1. Aye Madrid really looked as if they were terrified.

Wonder why no mentions about the kids getting hurt by flares?

If had been huns you would have been all over it the second the news broke.

Can’t be criticising the GB though.

As the club show no intention of protecting their fans, then its time for Glasgow City Council to call time on the “safe” Standing Area trial which could have worked if properly policed & stewarded by the club.
