The SPFL have this Friday morning confirmed that £1.8m will be paid out today to clubs across the country after the proposal to end the lower leagues went through on Wednesday.

This has triggered vital payouts to clubs who are in desperate need of cash to tide them over until football can return.

The proposal was overwhelmingly supported and the only club still upset about it is The Rangers who have nothing to gain from being upset about it.

Lower league clubs are struggling with match day revenue not coming in. It’s up to Scottish football to ensure they stay afloat in the interim while we navigate through these choppy waters.

30 clubs will have money in their accounts by the end of play today and the SPFL were making sure everybody was reminded of how strongly the proposal was voted on.

SPFL Press Release.

Following Wednesday’s announcement that the directors’ written resolution ending Season 2019/20 in the Ladbrokes Championship, Ladbrokes League 1 and Ladbrokes League 2, had passed with the backing of 81% of clubs, the SPFL has moved quickly to release end-of-season payments to clubs in the lower three divisions.

There’s faint hope Celtic can get back onto the field in the coming months but if not, Celtic will be crowned champions and payments triggered to clubs.
