The SPFL is set to sit down and thrash out punishments going forward for any COVID-19 rule break to deter every single player from straying from their responsibilities.

Up until now, there has been nothing in place but after Aberdeen and Celtic’s major breaches, the league now wants to bring in stricter punishments which include heavy fines and suspensions according to RecordSport.

There’s no word if a points deduction or forfeiting a tie is on the table if a team cannot fulfil their fixture. It will be interesting to see how this is managed.

Celtic will likely get some sort of punitive punishment for Boli’s trip to Spain but they will not be retrospectively charged under any new rules that come into play.

The Scottish Champions now have to play catch up with the rest of the league when they return to domestic action in ten days time, before that, they have a tie against Reykjavik.
