Hearts appear to be the first club to ask their players to take a voluntary wage cut of 50% as the harsh reality of the football shut down hits home.

We reported earlier this evening, the SFA are making a £1.5m fund available for clubs who are struggling to keep the doors open.

However, Ann Budge and Hearts are trying to be proactive in trying to cut costs in order to come out the other end of this relatively unscathed.

No match day revenue or upcoming ticket share of a semi-final Edinburgh Derby they were expecting.

RecordSport are running the story with Hearts yet to confirm. We’d be surprised if the Jambos were the only club to try and do this.

The paper also claims any staff member currently working 20 hours or less are being asked to take unpaid leave. This would be a great Shane if true.

Celtic are insulated from this with plenty of money to tide them over while this worldwide crisis continues.
