Admira Wacker sporting director Peter Stoger has been left excited by his club’s signing of two young Celts, Matthew Anderson and Ben Summers.

The pair completed one-year loan moves to Austria yesterday.

Matthew Anderson

Anderson played for Admira last season and now rejoins the club after an initial successful spell. He made 22 appearances in Austria’s second tier last term, scoring one goal and assisting six.

The 20-year-old was with the Hoops’ first team during pre-season but now moves to mainland Europe after Brendan Rodgers added Alex Valle to his ranks.

The defender joins midfielder fellow academy kid Summers in heading out to the 2.Liga.

He made his senior Celtic debut under Ange Postecoglou but spent last campaign on loan with Dunfermline.

Summers didn’t make a considerable impact with the Pars and now hopes for some improvement when he joins Admira.

Sporting director Stoger was delighted to use his side’s partnership with Celtic to sign the talented duo for the coming year.

“Matthew and Ben are two highly talented players who have gained experience at a high level at a young age,” he said (flyeralaradmira.at)

“Matthew showed us what he is capable of last season and we are happy to have him back with us. Ben brings a breath of fresh air to the attacking midfield and will give us new options in shaping the game.

“We are convinced that both players will take our team significantly further this season.”

Last term, Admira disappointingly finished sixth in the Austrian second tier.

They hope to return to the Bundesliga this season, but five games in, they are currently fifth in the table.

Perhaps the arrivals of Anderson and Summers could strengthen their ranks and catalyse improved results and performances.
