Hammarby sporting director Jesper Jansson was asked to comment on speculation linking his top left back Mohanad Jeahze with a move to Celtic in the summer after reports surfaced surrounding a Hoops scouting mission.

It was Expressen who reported on Celtic having scouts at the game between Hammarby and Malmo on Monday evening to continue their assessment of the Iraq international and they caught up with Jansson to get his take on the interest.

Speaking to Expressen’s Anel Avdic, Jansson said: “Nothing new. I know nothing more than what is written in the media. There is certainly an interest but I have not heard anything.”

Confirming to the media there is a genuine Celtic interest but making it clear there has been no serious talks between the two clubs over Mohanad’s future.

It’s clear Celtic need more options at left back. Greg Taylor is holding down the position unchallenged at the moment. Liam Scaled has failed to impress Ange enough to be considered a viable option in the role and with Champions League football likley coming to Celtic Park next season, we need reinforcements.

Expressen claim a fee of around £1.6m could be enough to get the Swede’s to part with their defender. Like always, Celtic will be covering and scouting a lot of targets and compiling a plan going forward.
