Celtic take on St Johnstone in the early Boxing Day kick off. The SPFL will enter a winter break after Sunday’s round of fixtures — a decision taken by the league due to new restrictions coming in.

There will be 500 St Johnstone fans allowed into McDermid Park this afternoon, but that’s it.

The game will be pretty much a throwback to last season when the games were played behind closed doors.

Celtic have been struggling to put out a fit team lately and stumbled against St Mirren two days before Christmas.

The Bhoys can’t afford another slip up if they’re to come out of the winter break swinging and have a real go at trying to win the title.

Where can I watch the game?

St Johnstone vs Celtic will be live on Sky Scotland for the UK and Ireland.

For those outside of that — the game will be live on Celtic TV.

What time is kick off?

12:30pm

Who is the referee?

Bobby Madden will be in charge of the game.

Team news:

Everything’s a bit up in the air. We know players like Jota and Jullien will be out. However, there’s a chance Kyogo makes the tie. The player was out against St Mirren.

There’s been no word about Joe Hart’s status after also missing the St Mirren game. Given there was no press conference over Christmas, we have a lot of unanswered questions over the squad. It’ll be interesting to see the starting XI.

  1. Whoever turns up for the Hoops, will have to put up with being booted up and down the park. Also they will have to score very early and add to that just as quickly. Or it will be yet another cold thigh and foot defection, park the bus, drag it over to the corner flag, passing drill training day.
These games at this time of year can be soul distroying. For players, fans and coaches. If handled incorrectly .

    Onwards and upwards. COYBIG.
