It has been confirmed today that Celtic will only be given 1,493 for the away match against St Mirren in September [@CelticFCTickets].

This comes in the wake of the club announcing that for this season they would retain all three stands for home supporters.

However, with the club expected to lose money out of this, St Mirren have launched an initiative for a “one-off voluntary contribution of £30 to supplement the loss of income,” stated on the St Mirren Official Website.

St Mirren may believe that it will give their team a greater advantage having less away fans in the stadium for any given match but this will only really be beneficial to the club if fans back the voluntary initiative.

This is becoming more of a trend in the SPFL Premiership with Hearts also opting to reduce allocations for away fans.

The Jambos did however sell 15,500 season tickets with the Roseburn end of the stadium being fairly well attended.

On the other hand, this will mean that many faithful fans who follow the team home and away are now likely to miss out on the match.

This also effects well established supporters buses who would have previously received a decent number of tickets for games in Paisley. An allocation cut means less people on a bus and the possibility of not being able to run one.

If St Mirren make up for the losses they may incur they may look to extended this initiative beyond but that might be unlikely.
