Celtic defender Carl Starfelt is set to miss the Hoops two games this week against Ferencvaros and Dundee after being brought off injured in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Livingston.

The 26-year old was replaced before the hour mark due to him picking up a hamstring injury, which left several Celtic fans concerned over how long he might be missing.

Speaking to Swedish media outlet, Fotbolskanalen Starfelt revealed the extent of his injury that will see him miss out on Celtic’s next two games as we approach the next international break.

“I have an X-ray tomorrow (Monday) so we will have to look out for it (results), but it’s probably an easier stretch. That is still a couple of weeks.”

With Starfelt now set to miss Thursday’s crucial European tie against Ferencvaros, Ange Postecoglou now has a decision on his hands as to who will replace the improving defender.

The choice to partner Cameron Carter Victors is likely to be between Stephen Welsh and Nir Bitton, who have both featured in the Hoops defence this campaign.

Given the improvements we have seen in Starfelt alongside the American internationalist, it will be a blow to have him missing on Thursday.

But it is time for another player to step up and play a part in what could be a huge fixture to determine our further involvement in European competition this season.
