Kasper Schmeichel has stressed the importance of maintaining focus as the team navigates a busy schedule, fresh off celebrating his 38th birthday.

Schmeichel has been instrumental in recent successes, notably during Celtic’s 3-1 Champions League victory over RB Leipzig and their emphatic 6-0 win against Aberdeen in the League Cup semi-final.
He’s pulled off some great stops, but it’s his distribution that impressing Celtic fans. He’s so quick at restarting play with his pinpoint passing accuracy.
Now, his sights are firmly set on the next challenge: an away Premiership match against Kilmarnock.
Discussing the mindset needed for consistent performance, Schmeichel stressed the importance of not dwelling on past wins.
“It’s about staying grounded now and not getting too carried away,” he said on Celtic TV.
“Tuesday’s gone. We’re not thinking of that any more. That was a fantastic night for all of us, but we park that and we move on to the next one.
“Now it’s away to Kilmarnock and all the challenges it brings, with the pitch and everything else.
“In modern football, you have to be on your game in every single game. There are no easy games.
“That’s the beauty and the challenge of playing at a club like Celtic. You have to be able to adapt to all the different competitions you’re in.”
He came in as an experienced head between the sticks, and did have his doubters, but he’s silenced them, for now.
He penned a contract for one year with an option for another, but it will be interesting to see what happens next year.
He, like Joe Hart, may look to bow out on a high, if Celtic win some silverware this year.
Celtic also brought young goalie Viljami Sinisalo in the summer. The assumption is that he settles in and works hard in the background, and when Schmeichel hangs up his gloves, the Finnish stopper will take over.
