Greg Taylor’s future at Celtic appears increasingly uncertain, with the left-back reportedly seeking a significant pay rise to stay at the club.

According to Mailsport’s Stephen McGowan, Taylor is looking to secure a new deal worth £25,000 per week, a figure that may see him priced out of a long-term future at Celtic Park

The report also states that Kieran Tierney’s potential return to Celtic could come with a £35,000-per-week salary, further complicating the situation for Taylor. If the Hoops succeed in bringing Tierney back from Arsenal, it is unlikely the club would meet Taylor’s wage demands while already committing to a more lucrative deal for Tierney.

This leaves Taylor in a precarious position. Despite being a reliable performer and regular starter under both Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers, the 26-year-old may find himself deemed surplus to requirements if the financial demands don’t align with Celtic’s budget.

Taylor has already attracted interest from clubs, most notably Dinamo Zagreb. The Croatian side, now managed by Fabio Cannavaro, are reportedly keen to sign Taylor, either as a free agent when his contract expires in the summer or for a cut-price fee in January.

Celtic may see January as an opportunity to cash in on the Scotland international if they believe his contract situation is unlikely to be resolved.

The next few weeks will be crucial in determining the fate of both Taylor and Celtic’s left-back position. Fans will no doubt be watching developments closely as the January window heats up.

  1. Good luck with the 25k. If he gets it he’ll have done well.
Been a decent servant in the domestic games but only poor recruitment has allowed him to prosper.
Like quite a few of our players, found wanting at a higher level including, worryingly, the latest Rangers games.
As KT appears to be a done deal, let him go
