STEVEN GERRARD has confirmed his team have suffered a major blow ahead of the Glasgow Derby tie on December 29.

The two clubs are set to meet for the second time this month when Celtic host the League Cup runners up.

Celtic own two victories over The Rangers this season already and will be hoping to add a third to see out 2019.

Gerrard has confirmed he will not be able to call on defender Filip Helander for the tie with the player set to miss almost two months of action with an injury.

The BBC confirm the player will play no part in the Derby with the Ibrox club having to reshuffle.

Celtic will not be too worried about who plays and who doesn’t. The bhoys won the League Cup at the start of the month when they played awful on the day. The bhoys know they have to up their game at Parkhead and put in a performance against who starts.
