STEVEN GERRARD has joined the many people in football to wish Leigh Griffiths a speedy recovery as the player takes time away from football for personal reasons.

Brendan Rodgers told the Celtic fans yesterday the player would be taking a leave of absence to fight some personal demons.

Since then, the vibe from Scottish football and beyond has been overwhelming support for the Celtic star.

John Hartson has offered to chat with Leigh because he has gone through similar things in the past. Former Celtic players have expressed their best wishes to Leigh.

Steven Gerrard joined the fold when he was told about the news during his pre-match press conference in Vienna.

The Scouser seemed taken aback by the news and wished Leigh all the best.

“We wish Leigh well and hope to see him back on a football pitch pretty soon. This is sad news.” he told Record Sport.

Rivalries should mean nothing when people’s health and wellbeing come into play.

I think some of Gerard’s support need to wisen up and get a grip after they were proudly singing at the striker’s expense just hours after the news had dropped.

  1. Fair do’s to him. He didn’t have to say those words and no doubt he will take some stick from certain elements of the peepel for it.

All the best Leigh. Most Celtic fans are with you all the way, apart from a few roasters on the e-time website.
