Former Celtic midfielder Stiliyan Petrov has delivered his verdict as to why he believes every goal scored by the Hoops is checked by VAR.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are in scintillating form but that hasn’t meant that they’ve had no issues with the technology which was introduced into Scottish football in late October.

They currently sit nine points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership and look in a great position to win a second league title as there is only eight games remaining before the split.

Although everything is coming together for the Hoops on the park with plenty goals being scored, every single one appears to be checked by VAR which is becoming increasingly frustrating to the Celtic support who are paying their hard earned money only for there to be constant disruption and pause after each goal.

There have been plenty of issues around penalties and whatnot but during every game Celtic goals are being checked which Petrov believes he has a theory about which he explained when responding to a fan on social media.

“There is definitely a higher possibility for Celtic goals to be checked constantly. Unfortunately the style of play and the movement of the players encourage it. Especially Kyogo, who plays off the shoulders and is constantly on the move But they do check pretty much all goals,” said Petrov tweeting on [Twitter].

Although it is the case that Celtic do play such football under Postecoglou that can be very quick off the mark, many are left wondering what is being looked at during the time in which a goal is being celebrated.

There are plenty of teams in the English Premiership who play fast-paced football who don’t appear to counter same issue.

Although the technology is still relatively new, many fans expected them to have gotten some sort of grip of it by now.

  1. The Hoops score more goals than the sad aprons viewing their Var screens can check, and either chop off for a Celtic players shirt or overspray from their footwear. Or insects or dirt too. Or make stand.

The sad aprons can’t stand it, that they’re having to surrender their hope of Sevco winning anything.

And that’s what hurts much more. They should be police’d by the Sfa, but that will never happen.
