It was an interesting afternoon to say the least at Celtic Park, with a power outage. However, one interesting development over the last hour has been Hoops supporters chanting Kieran Tierney’s name at full time.

With current left-back Greg Taylor storming down the tunnel after the game due to the chants, Brendan Rodgers called the incident ‘a total lack of respect’ post-match.

Taylor’s current contract situation is less than ideal, with his deal set to expire in the summer.

He is now free to negotiate with other teams over a pre-contract with Dinamo Zagreb said to be interested.

Celtic themselves look to be interested in a loan move for Kieran Tierney from Arsenal for the rest of the season, with a pre-contract to be signed in the summer for Taylor’s Scotland teammate.

Rodgers, himself, now appears to be in the middle, looking to keep Taylor happy while also hoping to sign Tierney this month.

For all the criticism that Taylor has received in his time at the club, just over four years after replacing Tierney in the summer of 2019, no one has been able to displace him despite multiple signings like Boli Bolingoli, Diego Laxalt, and Alexandro Bernabei.

The Scottish defender has consistently stood tall.

It’s a tough one for Taylor hearing the name of Kieran Tierney chanted this afternoon.

However, given the special story of Tierney having come through the Celtic youth ranks to signing for Arsenal for £25 million, a return to Celtic is set to come a lot sooner than most Hoops supporters would have even dreamed.

If Taylor wants to further cement his Celtic career, the answer is simple: sign a new contract and keep Tierney out of the team if he joins.

With the Arsenal defender often struggling with injuries, Taylor would play a lot more football than others might.

With his respectable career at the Hoops already, it would be great to see each fight it out to be the club’s starting left-back.
