According to reports this evening from STV journalist Raman Bhardwaj, Celtics interest in Peterborough striker Ivan Toney remains strong, even after the club had their first bid turned down last week.

In the last few days, it looked as though the hoops were set to wrap up a deal for West Ham striker Albian Ajeti on a season long-loan with an option to buy the following summer. However, this deal seems to have hit the burners after the Swiss striker is thought to have had doubts over the move and is looking at other options.
Toney had an impressive season, last campaign scoring 26 goals in 39 games. He also worked under current first team coach Gavin Strachan, so the newest recruit to the backroom staff could play a key part in this deal.
It is good to see the club showing some big ambition when going for a new striker. At the moment they seem to be prepared to spend big money on a brand new goal scorer, who could help and also replace Odsonne Edouard who is bound to move on somewhere, after this season.
There is probably still a long way to go with this deal though, as director of football at Posh, Barry Fry is notoriously difficult to work worth, when it comes to transfer dealings.
Just give them the money they want and get it over the line
