Celtics champions league conquerors Ferencvaros have did the seemingly impossible and qualified for the Champions League proper.

Celtic were knocked out at Celtic Park by the Hungarian side. The Scottish champions had plenty of chances to finish the game but in the end they buckled and Ferencvaros got the win.

Nobody gave them much chance of going any further but they have continued to defy the odds and tonight against Molde they hung on in the second leg at home to go through on away goals.

Unlike the Europa League playoff, the champions league playoff was played over two legs with Ferencvaros scoring three away goals.

Celtic have their own playoff on Thursday night to go into the Europa League group stage and will have to get past Sarajevo. The bhoys must make sure they’re not complacent and suffer a second shock result.

Saying that, Ferencvaros rise to the Champions League top table suggests we took them too lightly.

Here were their fans outside the ground this evening as they made history, with their first champions league campaign since 95.

  1. Took them too lightly?

    They were and are dire.

We’re out of the CL because of yet another Lennon tactical masterclass in what turned out to be as close to a bye to the groups we could’ve wished for.
