Celtic’s women side officially kicked off their first ever professional campaign and they did it in the most Celtic like way I can think of – last gasp drama!

Over the years, we have seen many late goals propel Celtic to medals and trophies. While this is the start of the season for the new look side, a victory against a dominant Glasgow City side can’t be underestimated.

Glasgow City took the lead on a very blustery night in East Kilbride when Clare shine scored for the visitor.

However, their lead lasted less than two minutes when when Sarah Ewan’s scored a belter to draw the game level again.

With the weather worsening and the clock running down it looked like the game would end in a 1-1 draw. Not a terrible result for the ghirls considering the opposition they’re up against.

But with virtually the last kick of the ball Celtic Captain Kelly Clark lashed the ball home from inside the box to send. Have a watch:

Fran Alonso and his team on the bench were going mental! What a night for the ghirls!

We’ll be covering the women’s games this season but if you want to get involved their home games are at the K-Park in East Kilbride.
