CELTIC had to be patient against St Johnstone as the Perth side tried to stifle the bhoys from the off on a cold night at Celtic Park.

The first half was pretty uneventful in front of goal, although a great save from Zander Clark denied Scott Sinclair another goal. Izzy with a great cross and Scotty rose up to meet the ball with his head, it looked like it was heading in but the keeper pulled off a top save.

It took 9 minutes into the second half for the deadlock to be broken but it was worth the wait! with St Johnstone backing off and happy for Celtic to have possession deep in their half, Callum McGregor saw an opening of his own and smashed the ball from outside the area past the keeper and put Celtic on their way.

Less than two minutes later, Ryan Christie got in on the act with a world class finish. The midfielder bent his shot round the keeper and hit the top corner to make it 2-0 and game over.

Celtic are now 6 points clear of Kilmarnock and Rangers*.
