It’s open season on Celtic when it comes to running the club down.

The board have allowed the madness to continue for another week and now everyone wants their pound of flesh. Celtic have been so dominant for so long, people wanting to stick the boot in when we fall from our pedestal was always going to happen.

Supporters and the board are at loggerheads, the players aren’t responding to the manager and our majority shareholder is letting his ego shape our immediate future.

Gordon Parks of RecordSport has thrown more things into the mix when it comes to Celtic’s recruitment this summer. The journalist claims Neil Lennon had major reservations about Shane Duffy coming to the club because he didn’t fit into the squad.

He also claims West Ham couldn’t believe they got a decent amount of their cash back for Albian Ajeti:

In the weeks leading up to Albian Ajeti’s £5million move from West Ham, a well-placed agent called to discuss the prospect and admitted the Hammers couldn’t wait to recoup some of the £8million they’d forked out to Basel for their flop.

The summary from the player’s time in London didn’t include any terms of endearment, the agent laughed at the prospect of Celtic being ‘sold a pup’ and insisted the Swiss international was well short of the quality required to become a success in Glasgow. Suckers number one.

Privately, Lennon had concerns over the arrival of Shane Duffy, he’d done his homework and he knew the limitations of a player who turned slower than the QE2 and may not be the man needed to steady the ship. Suckers number two.

The noise of fury amongst the fans of Celtic grows louder and they will get their wish, but it’s the silent assassins which will see to it that Lennon gets the sack.

Duffy has not been good enough during his time at the club so far and as for Ajeti, he started well but with the bhoys playing so poorly in the final third, he hasn’t been getting the service. However, hitting the post against Ross County hasn’t covered him in glory.

Celtic head to Italy on Thursday night to play a dead rubber with the leaders of Serie A. Another defeat looks more than likely before the bhoys play St Johnstone on Sunday in the SPFL. Any dropped points against the Perth side and we would say it’s game over for our title hopes but we can no longer speculate on what would be enough for the board to change the manager.
