Udinese are pressing ahead with a move to sign Motherwell’s Lennon Miller in a deal worth around £4.5 million, according to Stephen McGowan. The Serie A outfit are keen to bring the highly-rated Scottish midfielder to Italy, with talks understood to be progressing.

For Celtic, it’s a situation that raises more questions than answers. CeltsAreHere understands there has been no approach from the Parkhead hierarchy to Motherwell this summer, despite holding brief discussions over the player’s availability back in January. Those winter talks ended quickly when Motherwell made it clear they weren’t prepared to sell mid-season.

At the time, it seemed like a conversation that could be picked up again once the summer window opened. But that hasn’t happened — and Udinese are now firmly in the driving seat.

Miller, just 18, emerged as one of the SPFL’s standout young players last season. Calm on the ball, tactically mature, and boasting a strong passing range, he fits the profile of a homegrown player Celtic have often targeted to strengthen and future-proof their squad.

That makes the lack of summer follow-up from Celtic all the more surprising. With the club’s transfer business already under the microscope, watching one of the country’s top prospects leave for a relatively modest fee — and to a club outside Scotland — is bound to leave supporters questioning the club’s recruitment priorities.

If Udinese get their man, Miller would join a growing list of Scottish talents making an impact in Serie A, following in the footsteps of Lewis Ferguson and Aaron Hickey. For Motherwell, a £4.5m sale would be a record-breaking transfer and a major boost to their finances.

  1. The only thing that makes complete sense and has immense clarity right now is how so many gullible idiots are so quick to jump to conclusions and do exactly what they are desperately hoping to do under any circumstances, blame the club/board when ANY player who is ever mentioned in the media as “linked” with Celtic, signs elsewhere!
You have absolutely NO IDEA what discussions took place before! You have NO CLUE whether or not the player, or his agent, or in this case, his dad, (if you’ve been following), has told Celtic during earlier talks about Lennon Miller’s intentions!
I know this might shock a few people, so you might want to sit down first!
But not EVERY available player wants to sign for Celtic! 😱 I KNOW! Shocking! But apparently it’s true!
Not every available youngster wants to continue playing in the corrupt Scottish system, or live in the goldfish bowl of hatred anymore!
Some youngsters and more experienced players like Miller, Billy Gilmour, Scott McTominay, Liam Henderson, Lewis Ferguson, even and older and Che Adams!
I’m sure at some time Celtic either enquired or thought about most of these, and in fact HAD Liam Henderson on board!
But they are FREE FROM THE HATRED AND THE CORRUPTION OF SCOTTISH FOOTBALL.
This is not the fault of Celtic management or board! We’ve been fighting it since we were founded in 1888!
