SUPER BOWL winner Lawrence Tynes has taken to social media to congratulate Celtic on their achievement at making the last 32 of the Europa League.

The Scots-born star, originally from Greenock, moved to the US when he was a child and has resided there since.

Celtic lost on the night but did enough in the group overall to warrant their place in the knockout rounds.

Even though he has lived in America most of his life the former New York Giants star is a big Celtic fan and has never hidden his love for Celtic over the years.

Speaking to the Celtic website around five years ago, Tynes told them who his Celtic heroes were: “My Celtic heroes at that time were players like Paul McStay, Pat Bonner, Mick McCarthy and Andy Walker.

“They were great players. I also had the Panini sticker books – I’ve still got some of those.”

The former American football star has not one but TWO Super Bowl wins to his name over his career.

Tynes is the only player in the NFL with two overtime game-winning field goals in the playoffs to his name.

He also played a pivotal role in the Giants getting to the 2011 Super Bowl final by kicking a 31-yard field goal in overtime to advance to the final.
