Celtic defender Greg Taylor took to social media after the Hoops’ hard-fought 1-0 victory over Aberdeen at Pittodrie, sharing his thoughts on what proved to be a gritty but vital three points for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

“Tough night ☔️ big 3 points 💚,” Taylor posted, summing up a match where wild weather and a dogged Aberdeen side made every moment a battle.

Super Sub Steals the Show

Taylor, who started the game on the bench, was introduced at half-time for Alex Valle, and the Scotland international immediately made his presence felt. With the match still deadlocked, Taylor provided a moment of brilliance in the 78th minute, lofting a perfectly weighted pass over the Aberdeen defence to set up Reo Hatate for the game’s only goal.

It was a trademark delivery from the left-back, showcasing his composure and attacking intelligence in a game where chances were at a premium. Hatate’s finish was sublime, but Taylor’s vision and execution were pivotal in unlocking the Aberdeen backline.

Celtic Future in Question

Despite his decisive impact at Pittodrie, Taylor’s long-term future at Celtic remains uncertain. The defender’s contract expires at the end of this season, and as of January, he will be free to speak with other clubs about a potential summer move. It’s perhaps why the defender continues to not allow comments underneath his Instagram posts.

There has been little indication of progress on a new deal, leaving fans anxious about the possibility of losing a player who has become a reliable figure in the team. Since joining the club in 2019, Taylor has grown into a key contributor, providing defensive stability and attacking flair in an inverted role.

Focused on the Present

For now, Taylor seems fully focused on the job at hand, with Celtic’s unbeaten league record intact and their lead at the top of the SPFL table extended to seven points. His assist at Pittodrie only reinforced his value to the team.

With a league match against Hibs, a Champions League trip to Croatia, and the League Cup final against Rangers on the horizon, Taylor is putting his best foot forward.

However, the looming question remains: will Celtic secure his future, or could one of our most reliable players be on his way out next summer?
