Record Sport is claiming that Motagua president Eddy Atala of Emilio’s current club has said Celtic are interested in bringing the left-back back to Paradise for a third time on a short term basis.

Neil Lennon said yesterday at the Celtic FC Festival that he had a contingency plan if Kieran Tierney was to leave Celtic in this transfer window. Surely Lennon’s plan is not to bring in Izzy to fill in for the 25m rated Tierney?

Izaguirre left Celtic Park for a second time in August and most fans felt he should have left his legacy as it was. Izzy has always been a fan favourite and will be remembered as a great servant to the club but at 33 this is not news Celtic fans will want to hear.

The Motagua president said:

“We spoke to Emilio Izaguirre’s agents this week and he has offers from clubs in the USA, Japan and Australia.

“There is also the possibility of him returning to Celtic, but that is only for a short time of six months.

“If Emilio decides he doesn’t like these offers, then we would, of course, offer him a contract here.

Celtic have already bought in a left-back in Boli Bolingoli. It’s too early to be casting judgements on the new signing and he needs to be giving in a chance but he has already failed to finish two games after coming off injured.

  1. Again have to agree on what I have seen so far,but willing to give him a chance to settle . The boy from Kilmarnock would be better back up than Izzy.
