When you think of Brendan Rodgers and his Celtic team, you don’t necessarily think of massive turnover since coming to the club.

The Irishman has been great at coaching a lot of the players who were already here and put them in a position to shine throughout his two and a half years so far.

However, there is a very surprising stat thrown up as Celtic get ready to play in Sunday’s Cup Final.

There are only four players from the side which beat Aberdeen two years ago that are likely to start the game against the same side on Sunday.

Lustig, Brown, Rogic and Forrest are the likely starters and that’s if Brown is fit enough.

The rest of the team that day read like this:

Gordon
Lustig
Simunovic
Sviatchenko
Izaguirre
Brown
Armstrong
Roberts
Rogic
Forrest
Dembele

Sviatchanko, Armstrong, Roberts and Dembele have all moved on. Izzy is a backup to Kieran Tierney, Jozo is injured and Craig Gordon will not be starting after Brendan Rodgers told Celtic fans he would be sticking with Scott Bain in goals for this competition.

It’s crazy to think the side who set the club on its way to the double treble two years ago is mostly broken up.

It’s up to new heroes like Edouard, McGregor and Ntcham to get the job done at Hampden this Sunday. They can write their own piece of Celtic history.

A quiet but effective revolution – the exact opposite of our friends across the City.
