CELTIC will travel across the city next week to try and negotiate their way to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.

It’s going to be no easy task but especially when the SFA continue their trend of handing the whistle to a referee who has proven to be problematic in the past.

Bobby Madden is the man who will referee the tie next Saturday at 4pm on Premier Sports.

A man who not so long ago didn’t give Celtic a last minute penalty for a cross body challenge on Leigh Griffiths.

The tiresome merry go round of the same whistlers doing the same insipid job has become tiresome.

It would be in the SFAs best interest to address this and bring new, more competent officials through.

Of course, how competent can anyone be when they’re part-time.

Perhaps for the big games, they could take a leaf out of other European leagues books and bring in a referee from another association.

It’s an old pals act down at Hampden.

  1. To be honest I would have been more worried about Beaton or Dallas.
