CHRIS SUTTON sat down with Neil Lennon to talk all things Celtic but during the interview, Neil knew exactly what his pal and former team-mate was trying to do when he was asked about a job in the Premier League.

The BT Sport pundit was keen to get Neil’s take on why he isn’t linked with jobs down south and if that makes him feel under-appreciated. Lennon called it out for being a loaded question and proceeded to talk up Celtic rather than himself.

SUTTON: When Premier League jobs come up down south, or even Championship jobs, I don’t see your name linked. Doesn’t that make you feel under-appreciated?

LENNON: That’s a loaded question! I’m not here to put myself out there to attract other clubs. I’m here to make Celtic and myself better. Sometimes the Scottish game gets a little downplayed but in last year’s Champions League final, we had Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama.

Neil Lennon won’t be linked with jobs down south because of his spell at Bolton. The Irishman took over at the basket case club and was always fighting fires away from the pitch. The manager and his coaches at the time going into their own pockets at the Reebok to pay non-playing staffs wages.

His work with Celtic and Hibernian north of the border has been fantastic but that doesn’t cut the mustard with decision-makers down south.

  1. Very glad his name is not mentioned for jobs down south, why would he want to move from one of the biggest and most successful clubs in the world? The main reason for anyone to move south is money, and Lennon’s middle name is Celtic, unlike like others, he’s here for the duration HAIL HAIL.
