CHRIS SUTTON has blasted Bobby Madden’s awful performance in the Scottish Cup semi-final. The referee was awful from start to finish.
His consistency was nowhere to be seen. Lundstrum had many bookable offences after the referee cautioned him, but he was allowed to continue until Van Bronkhorst eventually took him off.
While commentating on the match, the former Celtic striker made his opinions on the referee clear, saying things such as;
“He’s had a shocker all afternoon.”
“Bobby Madden is just embarrassing himself.”
“That’s amazing from Bobby.”
Taking to Twitter, Sutton restated his thoughts on Bobby Madden’s performance.
Celtic were poor but Bobby Madden turned in one of the worst refereeing performances I’ve seen in Scotland for a long time… and that’s saying something!!!

Adding VAR to the Scottish game will not fix these issues. The same referees, who consistently perform poorly, will be in control of the equipment. The technology is seen as a quick fix, but it’s not.
Celtic and many other teams will likely vote for introducing the equipment, but with high costs, it’s not guaranteed that the vote will result in enough clubs in favour of its introduction.
